WPI-Bio2Q has published the latest issue of its newsletter, “Bio2Q Connect” (Vol. 2, Issue 14, March 29, 2026).
This issue highlights the vibrant activities at Bio2Q as spring arrives, including a comprehensive report on a Cryo-EM workshop at OIST, cutting-edge research on gut metabolites, introductions of new members, and outreach initiatives inspiring future scientists.
Key Topics in This Issue:
OIST-Keio Showcase & Cryo-EM Workshop: A detailed report on the joint event held at OIST in January 2026. Bio2Q participants gained hands-on experience in structural biology, leading to the successful 3D imaging of extracellular vesicles.
Research Introduction (Series #12): Featuring Dr. Yutaro Kuwashima (Postdoc, Bio-1/Bio-2 Core), who explores the dialogue between gut microbiota-derived metabolites and the host. His work utilizes mass spectrometry and organoids to uncover molecular mechanisms that maintain human health.
Welcome On Board: Introducing two new postdoctoral researchers who joined in March. Dr. Leonard Dubois brings expertise in strain-level computational metagenomics, while Dr. Jung Hyun Im specializes in innate immunity and viral RNA sensing mechanisms.
