【Event Report】Students from the Research and Clinical Experience Program Visit WPI-Bio2Q

June 25, 2026

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, as part of the Research and Clinical Experience Program, nine students from the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences visited Keio University’s Shinanomachi Campus to tour WPI-Bio2Q (Human Biology-Microbiome-Quantum Research Center).

During the visit, Professor Kenji Tanaka guided the students through the research environment on the Shinanomachi Campus, explaining WPI-Bio2Q’s research framework and the facilities that support cutting-edge life science research. Immersed in a research environment different from their regular laboratories, the students learned firsthand how medical and life science research is advanced and developed.

The tour also featured a discussion on research career paths after master’s programs and the significance of pursuing a doctoral degree. In particular, Professor Tanaka emphasized the importance of deepening one’s expertise through a PhD program to thrive as an international researcher in the life sciences. This provided a highly valuable opportunity for the students to contemplate their future career paths.

Following the tour, a commemorative photo was taken with Professor Tanaka, members of WPI-Bio2Q, and the nine students. Through this visit, the students not only gained exposure to a state-of-the-art research environment but also received great inspiration for their future research careers.
