Introducing new member of Bio2Q
It is our pleasure to introduce our new member, Dr. Vinodh Joseph, a postdoctoral fellow at Bio-1 core of Bio2Q.
The greeting from Dr. Vinodh Joseph is as follows:
“I was born in southern India and received my formal education in biotechnology. I earned a Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Hiroshi Sugiyama at Kyoto University, where I studied nucleic acid recognition, modification, and secondary structures. My research spans chemical biology, natural products, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, and microbiology. At Bio2Q, I will work with Prof. Kenya Honda as a member of the microbiome team.
The significance of the microbiome in various diseases is becoming increasingly apparent. However, the underlying roles of the microbial secondary metabolites remain largely unknown. My research aims to identify and investigate microbial “dark matter” and its functional roles within the host. To address this essential research, a multidisciplinary approach encompassing biology, chemistry, computer science, and informatics is necessary. I am privileged to be associated with Bio2Q, where I will have the opportunity to work alongside distinguished professionals in each field and endeavor to elucidate the microbial metabolites and their intrinsic function.
In my free time, I enjoy cycling through the beautiful countryside and mountains of Japan, and I have a passion for creating scientific animations.”
