Introducing new member of Bio2Q
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Haowei Li as a postdoctoral fellow at Bio-2 core of Bio2Q.
The greeting from Dr. Li is as follows:
“My journey of exploring the principles of life began in 2010, as I pursued the art of healing in medical school. Driven by a strong desire to alleviate patient suffering, I became deeply aware of the limitations of current medical practices. Curiosity led me to delve deeper into the complexities of memory and cognition. During my Ph.D. training at the University of Tokyo, I focused on hippocampal neurogenesis, using fMRI to uncover the role of these newborn neurons in cognitive flexibility.
Today, mounting evidence shows that the gut-brain interaction plays a significant role in processes such as emotion, consciousness, and decision-making. Synapses, as the fundamental units of neural communication, are the connectors and regulators of this intricate system. At Bio2Q’s neuroregulation team, under Professor Yuzaki’s guidance, I will further explore how synaptic structures and related proteins mediate and regulate the gut-brain axis. By integrating biosciences with biomedical informatics and computer science, I aim to contribute to Bio2Q’s mission of unraveling the complexities of human health.
I look forward to collaborating with experts across various fields at Bio2Q, where innovation meets the future of health and life sciences.”
