Introducing a new Research Internship Student of Bio2Q
We are delighted to welcome Mr. Han Joo You as a Research Internship Student of Bio2Q.
“Nice to meet you all! I am truly delighted and excited to join the Bio2Q division this year in the Immunogenetics Laboratory. The reason I chose this place is that, ever since my master’s research, I have been deeply captivated by a scientific curiosity that I am determined to pursue.
During my master’s program at the University of Tsukuba, I conducted research in Professor Kawaguchi’s Molecular Virology Laboratory, where I studied immune cell responses under viral infection. Through Professor Kawaguchi’s guidance and my own curiosity, I gained valuable insights into the immune system. The experience also allowed me to develop both experimental skills and a passion for deeper scientific thinking.
As I approached the end of my master’s degree, I reflected on my experimental results and became intrigued by how immune cells could alter their characteristics and, paradoxically, exacerbate disease symptoms. While exploring this question, I came across Professor Ishigaki’s research. His studies, which focus on mechanisms by which dysregulation of T-cell homeostasis can lead to autoimmunity or misrecognition of self-cells as targets, perfectly aligned with my growing interest in T-cell regulation and self-recognition.
Although I have only recently joined Bio2Q, I am gradually grasping the broader picture of the ongoing research here and realizing its great potential in contributing to the understanding and treatment of autoimmune diseases. I am eager to learn more and hope that, one day, my research will make meaningful contributions to T-cell–based therapeutic approaches.”
