Title | Intestinal Mucus and Immunity – Ways the Microbiota can Impact the Host |
Speaker | Robert R Jenq, M.D. The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center |
Language | English |
Abstract:
“The mechanisms linking the gut microbiota and immune-related outcomes in cancer patients remain incompletely understood. Our group has focused on the mucus-degrading subset of intestinal bacteria and their relationship to diet and the intestinal barrier. We are also beginning to study T cell recognition of bacterial antigens using a new tool we have developed to screen antigens against T cell receptors.”
Biosketch:
Dr. Jenq is a medical oncologist with more than 15 years of experience specializing in the care of adults undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation.
