Title: “Leveraging metabolomics and biological networks for functional insights into microbiome”
Small molecule metabolites serve as critical mediators of host-microbiome interactions. High-resolution mass spectrometry-based global metabolomics generates comprehensive datasets that capture the complex landscape of host-microbiome co-metabolism. Proper integration of metabolomic and microbiome data represents a powerful approach for elucidating the biological mechanisms underlying host-microbiome interactions. In this presentation, I will discuss our recent research developing integrated computational approaches and tools, advanced LC-MS/MS metabolomics analytical methods, and experimental C. elegans-based model systems. Together, these approaches provide new avenues for understanding microbiome functions and their dynamic interactions with host organisms.
